Best-selling author and daughter of preacher TD Jakes has made headlines for her bold actions during a Sunday service at the Potter’s House Church in Dallas, Texas. Sarah Jakes is known for her pronounced preaching style and has gained a worldwide following across all groups of people, especially women, after she launched Woman Evolve in 2017.

In her sermon titled The Power of Your Call, Sarah Jakes spoke on identity and calling using the examples of Jesus and the Woman with the issue of blood. At one point during the sermon, the LA preacher prayed, “God make me present in every way possible to what this moment demands.”

Halfway through her sermon, it was evident that the preacher was making attempts to fix her wig which was beginning to recede. When made aware of her falling wig she playfully remarked, “I don’t care. Y’all don’t think this is my hair, do you?”

She then seamlessly tied in the fashion mishap into the message and the crowd was in uproar.

“I recognise what is really necessary. If the wig stay on or not… I know what I’m really here for. Me and God locked in on the word… at the end of the day I believe that I am called. If miracles are gonna break out, let a wig fall off. Do you think the woman with the issue of blood cared about her hair?”

Minutes later, Sarah Jakes took off her unrelenting wig and was met with waves of cheering and applause from the audience and her team. The preacher known for her fashion statements continued preaching with just her wig cap and later a woman at the front was seen to have put their wig on stage.

Days later, the news spread across social media and not for the reasons the preacher expected. In an Instagram live video with her husband, Touré Roberts, Sarah Jakes Roberts stated that she was “prepared for people to make fun” and that she was “not prepared that it would help people“.

TV show host, Sherri Shepherd reported about the incident and showed solidarity with Sarah Jakes in a humorous manner by letting her wig fall off as part of her news segment, to the shock of her studio audience.
