Prosecutors looking for 13-year prison sentence for Tory Lanez

Last December, Tory Lanez finally met his fate in his Megan Thee Stallion shooting trial. As a result, he was found guilty of three felonies. Those included assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a concealed and loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. Furthermore, Tory was denied a request for a new trial to be held.

Meanwhile, prosecutors are seeking a 13-year sentence in prison, for Tory, according to legal reporter Meghann Cuniff. This comes amid the sentencing being delayed, since March. Furthermore, they cited how Tory spoke about the shooting in his 2020 “Daystar” album, along with him reportedly assaulting August Alsina, in 2022.

“Words have power and the pen is oftentimes mightier than the sword. In this case, Daystar Peterson [Lanez’s legal name] used both,” said a memo by the prosecution. “Not content to have hurt the victim by use of his sword (gun), he also used his pen. His online posts for nearly three years have re-traumatized the victim. His online reach is worldwide (millions of followers plus casual observers) and the defendant’s statements embolden his followers so that they too have been complicit in re-traumatizing the victim. He is responsible for the effect of his words and his actions.”

As a result, Tory will reportedly finally be sentenced on June 13. He faces a maximum of 22 years in prison.
