Quote from the song “Painkiller” by Liv Dawson
This morning I was broken
That was heavy, a lot of words spoken
And I didn't know what to think at all
'Cause right now I could do without
But I know I had to talk with you
By that time, I'd had a few
I've got to work out what I said
Put the pillow back around my head

[Verse 1]
This morning I was broken
That was heavy, a lot of words spoken
And I didn't know what to think at all
'Cause right now I could do without
But I know I had to talk with you
By that time, I'd had a few
I've got to work out what I said
Put the pillow back around my head
[Pre-Chorus]
I need a painkiller
Sugarcoated 'cause it tastes much better
And though I can't remember
Know I would say it again
[Chorus]
Every time I leave without your touch
Every time I think that you'd had enough
Every time I'm drunk and say too much
I know that I would say it again
Every time I think we're worlds apart
Every time I drink, I pour out my heart
Every time I think I've gone too far
I know that I would say it again
[Verse 2]
This evening I'm still broken
Can't believe we haven't even spoken
It's not that hard to text or call
Do you not even care at all?
[Pre-Chorus]
Give me a painkiller
Sugarcoated 'cause it tastes much better
And though I can't remember
Know I would say it again
[Chorus]
Every time I leave without your touch
Every time I think that you'd had enough
Every time I'm drunk and say too much
I know that I would say it again
Every time I think we're worlds apart
Every time I drink, I pour out my heart
Every time I think I've gone too far
I know that I would say it again
[Pre-Chorus]
Give me a painkiller
Sugarcoated 'cause it tastes much better
And though I can't remember
Know I would say it again
[Chorus]
Every time I leave without your touch
Every time I think that you'd had enough
Every time I'm drunk and say too much
I know that I would say it again
Every time I think we're worlds apart
Every time I drink, I pour out my heart
Every time I think I've gone too far
I know that I would say it again
FAQ & Knowledge Song “Painkiller”
ℚ. What have the artists said about the song?
The singer herself spoke of the song in an interview with The Line of Best Fit:
“[The single] is about that feeling we’ve all had, waking up from the night before having poured your heart out; reflecting on what was said and the emotions that stirs,” Dawson explains. “I saw Jake [Davies] in The Missing and knew I wanted him to be in the video: he was incredible at acting out those sombre feelings left from the hangover of the night before. Working with HONNE also came so naturally, they’re like two older brothers now, and amazing at what they do.”
