Rock Music News: Kuni – Walls Have Told Me EP (2024)

One of the most promising newcomer of the new music scene, Italian act Kuni, has just released her debut Walls Have Told Me EP.

Entirely produced by Golden Years, it’s a collection of 5 immaculate indie gems, with a touch of folk and always enriched by immediate, but mature pop melodies and pristine vocal performances.

Speaking about lead single ‘Piece Of Land‘, she said: “After waiting several months for the right words to come and help me say the right things, I decided to resort once more to conversations with myself. It looked like a priority to me, maybe because at this time of my life I feel like I have to earn the chance to talk about the outer world by going through my inner shenanigans. “Piece of Land” comes from some of these feelings. It is a loving reminder that somewhere someone (maybe it is ourselves) is working very hard to make us feel in the right place, even if it is outside of our comfort zone. And there should be no rush in finding this spot, but to help the process we might want to lose those prejudices and rigid structures we are so fond of. At least, this is what I try to keep in mind every day. I wrote the lyrics of this song all together, in one shot, and then I sat at the piano and sang them. The recorded version of the song is exactly the first attempt I made to sing it, because I wanted to keep it that way.”

About the EP, she added: “For many of the latest years of my life, what happened between the walls of my room defined much of what happened outside. I have always been that kind of undetectable introvert that very naturally spends a lot of time reflecting on emotions and human interactions by themselves. But if for some time I had to hold on pause that side of me to make space for fun and the experiences you are expected to make in your twenties, I recently felt the urge to call it back. I pulled together some of the stingiest emotions I felt, some of the sweetest and some of the harshest memories, and tied them all with the most sincere words I could find. What came out of this process is as transparent as it looks. There are not many substructures or hidden meanings to it. It is what it is. To me, it is a beginning, the introduction of a book, the presenter that walks you into a show, the backpack filled with the essentials for a journey. I am not sure what will happen next, but I am so glad to be standing here with these songs to share and to use as tools to go through the next chapter.“
