Quote from the song “minor” by Gracie Abrams

Hit me 310
And I'll be home at some point
Past sundown, because traffic
You already know that, oh
I'll put on a show
If you just come over
I'm sorry your house is in Glendale
Or somewhere far

[Verse 1]

Hit me 310
And I'll be home at some point
Past sundown, because traffic
You already know that, oh
I'll put on a show
If you just come over
I'm sorry your house is in Glendale
Or somewhere far

[Pre-Chorus]

I would drive all night to get to you
But my curfew is early and moms up at home
I would run for miles to get to you
But you gotta understand I can't 'cause

[Chorus]

M-I-N-O-R
I'm minorly stuck
And it's not your fault
Just how things are
M-I-N-O-R
I'm all out of luck
I'm minorly stuck, oh

[Verse 2]

Hit me 310
We'll meet by the freeway
It's shady, but better than nothing
Oh, take my word
I grew up not far but never been down here
At this time your house is in Glendale
Or somewhere far

[Pre-Chorus]

I would drive all night to get to you
But my curfew is early and dad's at the door
I would run for miles to get to you
But you gotta understand I can't 'cause

[Chorus]

M-I-N-O-R
I'm minorly stuck
And it's not your fault
Just how things are
M-I-N-O-R
I'm all out of luck
I'm minorly stuck, oh
M-I-N-O-R
I'm minorly stuck
And it's not your fault
Just how things are
M-I-N-O-R
I'm all out of luck
I'm minorly stuck, oh

FAQ & Knowledge Song “minor”

  • ℚ. What have the artists said about the song?

i wrote this when i was 17 and feeling stuck all the time, like my feet were locked in by cement. dramatic, sure, but entirely real also. this song was the spawn of feeling so overwhelmingly in love for the first time in my life. being even five miles apart felt like being separated by oceans and when i think about it now, i believe that had i not experienced that feeling, i wouldn’t have been able to write a lot of what i did for the four years to follow. it was that feeling that was so hard for me to articulate in normal conversation. i had to place it elsewhere. being alone at my piano was really the only place i felt like, “okay, i’m getting to the core of this.” and thank god. i guess more than anything what i feel now when i hear this song is the starting point of when i started to understand myself as a writer — my instincts, my weaknesses, my actual influences. putting this song at the end of the first project i’m able to share feels right because i feel actual closure. especially as i’m writing this. i’m endlessly grateful.

  • ℚ. What else have the artist said about the song?

On a July 2021 interview with Cultured, Gracie explained took her the shortest amount of time to write. She said:

Straight through, in like two and a half minutes. Which song? It’s called “minor.” I wrote it when I was 17 and it all kind of happened at once. During the pandemic, writing was really difficult for me at some point because I felt trapped in my head a lot, but I’m now just very on the other side of it, so I’m super relieved. And grateful for the challenge honestly.
