Rock Music News: AXiS - Electric Peace (2024)

The Romanian-Serbian trio AXiS is described as being raw, strong, and bold. AXiS - Electric Peace
The Romanian-Serbian trio AXiS is described as being raw, strong, and bold. Although they have their beginnings in the little Serbian village of Kladovo on the Danube, their souls are found on the American soil where the Blues was first born. Inspired by the greats such as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the more contemporary Greta Van Fleet, Rival Sons, Vintage Trouble, or Wolfmother.
The band has made two albums. The debut, "First Punch" was released in 2018, and the brand new Electric Peace has been just released, featuring 9 songs for 47 minutes.
The album starts with "Dazzling Woman". I like the song's main guitar riff and Led Zeppelin vibes, with a dynamic, powerful, creative rhythm section. Absolutely a great start for the album. Great groove and great vocals for the following "Ain't got no tears" with an old Sabbath taste, slow and powerful (and with a great solo section). The third track "Somewhere in Time and Space" is one of the longest (6 minutes and 38 seconds) on the album and it's a pure classic rock ballad, reminding me of "Thank You", by Led Zeppelin. I really like the atmosphere of this one and the usual great solo section, in the second part of the song.
"Firewater" was the first single of the album with a superb drumming at the start of the song, as well as the mood of the verses, after the fuzzy riff. Talking about riffs, one of my favourites is definitely "Until the Night Ends", supported by funky and inspired bass lines too. The song is extremely vibrant and definitely one of my top choice for this full-length. I also love when the song slows down, with the usual quality solo section, one of the band's trademarks. Great guitars on "Wild Soul" (some Jimi Hendrix here!) and on the super vibrant title track (top-notch sound and performance. I love this one!) and a great chorus on the ballads "Otherside" and the closing "Fifth Season".
If you are into Classic rock, you have to give this album a go, it's very well written, amazingly performed by the trio and with the perfect sound for the genre. I personally love all the guitars (riffs and solos) but the album is full of little tasty details and lots of contaminations that will make you happy.
